The five central associations of the German banking industry (Bundesverband der Deutschen Volksbanken und Raiffeisenbanken e. V., Bundesverband deutscher Banken e. V., Bundesverband öffentlicher Banken Deutschlands e. V., Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband e. V. and Verband deutscher Hypothekenbanken e. V.) are united in the Central Credit Committee (ZKA). The ZKA sees itself as the representative body of the central associations of the banking industry.
The German Banking Industry (DK for short) emerged from the ZKA as an amalgamation of the Federal Association of German Cooperative Banks, the Association of German Banks, the Federal Association of German Public Sector Banks, the German Savings Banks and Giro Association and the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks the representation of interests and the top credit industry associations.
