Merchant
Collective term for German retailers (companies) who have applied for a credit card acceptance agreement with an acquirer to accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard).
Merchant Acquiring Bank
The merchant acquiring bank sets up a merchant account for processing payment card transactions. For this purpose, an agreement is made between an acquiring partner and a merchant acquiring bank. The merchant is contractually obligated to comply with the operating rules set by the card associations, sales organization (ISO), member service provider, acquiring bank or aggregator.
