Application Service Provider
An ASP is an external application service provider that offers customers the use of applications over the Internet via a central data center.
Administration
The application service provider takes over the entire administration, such as data backup, importing patches, updates, etc.. The software required for this is not purchased, but only rented for use. The ASP provides the software, the application is the sole responsibility of the user. There are very different applications such as clouds, data centers and accounting or tax software.
Advantage
ASP services make it possible for companies to outsource entire administrative areas or process steps. The core business and the entrepreneurial and operational processes can thus be controlled more efficiently.
