Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol
TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) is a standard protocol for the exchange of data on the Internet. TCP monitors the connection and checks whether the data has been transmitted completely. IP is responsible for addressing and transporting the data.
The history
Robert E. Kahn and Vinton G. Cerf. developed the TCP protocol in 1973, which was standardized in 1983 as RFC 793, the basis of the Internet. TCP can transfer data in both directions because it establishes a connection between two end points of a network connection (sockets). Because data loss can be detected and automatically corrected, TCP is a very widely used protocol for data transmission. Practically, it is the only transport medium for the Internet.
