Query
This is the English term for inquiry. In relation to search engines, query is the search term that is sent to the search engines to find.
Query and databases
A query can also be a database query. The result is a filtering of the complete database with the help of combinable queries. For this one needs a query language (Data Query Language) like e.g. SQL (Structured Query Language). This allows further extensive manipulations of a relational database according to the 3-category model.
Relational database languages
The elements of relational database languages can be divided into three categories.
- Data Manipulation Language (DML): query, insert, modify or delete user data.
- Data Definition Language (DDL): create, modify and delete data structures.
