Secure Sockets Layer Certificate
Secure Sockets Layer is the old name for encryption protocols today Transport Layer Security. In 1996, the Transport Layer Security (TLS) Protocol version 1.0 was developed, which replaced the Secure Sockets Layer Protocol.
The history
In 1994, Netscape Communications completed the first version of SSL (1.0) for one of the first web browsers Mosaic. The second version was released between 1994 and 95. PCT 1.0 from Microsoft (Private Communication Technology from late 1995) for Internet Explorer, offered some advantages over SSL (2.0) that were later incorporated in SSL 3.0.
